What exactly is a CT Scan and How does it work?

A CT scan, also known as a Computerized Tomography scan or CAT scan, is a computer-assisted X-ray scanner. A narrow X-ray is directed at the body and is immediately rotated. The resulting X-ray measurements are then processed by advanced computer software that provides images of the cutting parts (or "pieces") of specific body parts with great detail and adjustment to see in-depth without the need for an invasive process.

What Exactly is a CT Scan?

CT scan services offer a variety of uses, but they are also very effective in using X-ray technology to quickly diagnose patients who may be suffering from internal injuries that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Flexible medical imaging machines can produce detailed images of many structures within the body, including:

  • Internal organs
  • Blood vessels
  • Bones

CT scans can be used:

  • Find the location, size, and shape of the plant
  • Identify conditions and diseases
  • Identify any damage to the bones or organs
  • Identify problems with blood flow or strokes
  • Monitor the patient's condition, such as checking the size of the abscess during and after cancer treatment
  • Assessing muscle and bone disorders

How Does it work?

During a CT scan, the patient will lie on their back on the bed. A rotating ring attached to the scanner will release x-ray beams that scan the body and send detailed measurements to a computer throughout the process.

Unlike an MRI scan service, a CT scanner does not cover your entire body at once, so you should not feel too claustrophobic.

While the scan is taking place, the radiographer uses a scanner from a nearby room. The radiographer will use a scanner from the next room. Patients can communicate with them through an intercom.

Each time a scan is taken, patients will need to lie still and breathe normally. This ensures that the images are not blurred. The radiologist will discuss this with you on the day of your scan in detail. The whole scan will take about 10-20 minutes from start to finish.

CT scan advantages

CT scans can detect cancer with amazingly high efficiency and blood vessels that supply the tumor and other nearby structures.

CT Scan service is amazing at capturing the lungs and cardiovascular systems. If the plant is hidden here, we will see it.

Some CT scans require a different dye for the development of internal images. This allows radiologists to distinguish between ordinary and unusual. They can be swallowed, given rectally, or injected into blood vessels. Unfortunately, this method may not suit patients with severe kidney health problems.

In addition, some patients may find it challenging to have a CT scan as the procedure requires breathlessness which some people may find uncomfortable.

Here at Aruna Diagnostics, we offer several Health Checkups packages. Each test will include a detailed medical history, ECG, blood test, and several scans designed to suit your needs. All of this is intended to detect diseases and give you some peace of mind.
